Our Holly Jolly Christmas

Another Christmas tradition that we do every year is we go to Waylen's parents on Christmas Eve and have dinner and have a little party to celebrate my birthday, since I am so fortunate to have a birthday on the 24th of Dec. This year my brother-in-law Tyler made some really great steaks and we also had shrimp.  After dinner, everyone sang Happy Birthday to me, the kids helped me open my presents (which included a Wii fit) and we enjoyed some cheesecake.  --That day, when Waylen took the kids down to his mom's to wrap my present, Hayden noticed that it was something for a Wii, and he tells his dad "Why did you get that for mom? We don't have a Wii?" Waylen just told him, "Well, let's just hope that you have been a good boy this year, so Santa will bring you the Wii that you asked for, or we will have to take mom's present back." --Then, the kids were surprised when Santa made a stop by Grandma and Papa's house and left them some Christmas p.j's.  After visiting for awhile longer, we came home and watched a short video on the Nativity before we sent the kids to bed. It was a great way to remind the kids what Christmas is all about and to reflect on the birth of our Savior.  --Thankfully, Hayden and Kayla both went to sleep pretty quick and neither one woke up during the night.  We ended up getting up around 7:30 when Hayden woke up.  The kids were so excited to find out if Santa and his reindeer had visited them.  Hayden said he was pretty sure Santa had came because he had been a reallllly good boy.  He was a little confused when he opened his first present from Santa and it was the Wii Play and an additional remote.  Then he was all excited when he opened his next one and it was a Wii.  Kayla loooved her "doll that crawls" and her little puppy that drinks from a bottle.  Kayla also loved the present that Santa brought Katie- a play mat with toys.  --After the kids opened their presents from us and my parents, Waylen and I opened our presents, then we spent several hours playing the Wii.  We had a lot of fun and couldn't pull ourselves away from it, but finally we did around noon and got ready to go down to Waylen's parents.  After enjoying a Christmas feast, we exchanged gifts and the kids had fun seeing what they got from Grandma and Papa.  Then, we stayed until later that night, visiting and playing some card games, and the kids all enjoyed playing with the Zhu-Zhu pets and all the other fun stuff too!! --Well, that wraps up our Christmas and all the traditions that we love to enjoy during the holidays.  Now we are just patiently waiting for Papa Mike and Nana to arrive on Wednesday, we can't wait!!!
