Katie meets........

PAPA MIKE AND NANA!!!

My parents were able to come out on the 6th and stay for a week.  We were so happy that they were able to come out for a visit. We had mentioned to the kids that they were coming out for a visit, but didn't tell them when, and for the week leading up to them coming we didn't mention anything about it. They were able to fly into Alamosa, so me and the girls went and picked them up at 2:30 last Wednesday.  When we walked in the airport and saw them, Kayla got all shy and it took her about a minute before she would give them hugs.  But she wasn't shy for long, she talked and talked all the way home.  My dad went in with me to the school to check Hayden out about 30 minutes early.  He came walking out of his room and we were standing there waiting and he gave me a big hug, then he noticed his Papa and he just got this big grin on his face.  Then gave his Papa a great big hug!!

They were so excited that they had come for a visit. Kayla kept asking them "You spend the night at my house??" and they would say "Yeah, for a whole week." and she would get this big surprised grin on her face. It was so funny.  Then, the next morning, she came and asked me "Can Papa and Nana spend the night again?" and I told her that they were going to stay again. And she went running to them and told them: "My mom said you can spend the night again!!"

Just for journaling purposes, I am going to write what we did each day while they were here.

Thursday- Hayden stayed out of school and we went up to Alamosa.  We went to Walgreens & Wal-mart, then ate lunch at Wendy's, and finished up with a shopping trip to Safeway (where my mom stayed in the car with the kids while me and my dad got all the groceries) -this made for a much easier and faster trip in & out with the groceries.  That afternoon when we got home, the kids watched their movie with Papa Mike while Nana and mom got dinner ready.  Then, later after dinner, the kids watched cartoons in our bedroom, while we (adults) watched our movie.

Friday - Much to his dismay, Hayden went to school this day.  Me and my dad spent most of the morning, playing the Wii Fit.  We were having a lot of fun and it was noon before we knew it!!!  Then, we played some Wii bowling and golf that afternoon after Hayden got home from school.  So, we were pretty lazy all day long!!! But hey, we are all entitled to a day like that every once in awhile right???

Saturday - We had a Girls Day - my mom and I took the girls with us shopping to Maurices in Alamosa, and then we went and had lunch at Subway before coming home.  The Boys went and spent the morning at Papa Larry's garage.  That afternoon, we cleaned the house up a bit.  That night the kids were all excited to have a babysitter while we went out to eat to the Dutch Mill with Waylen's parents & Melody and Tyler.

Sunday -  The main reason they came out was for Katie's blessing at church on the 10th. She was given a beautiful blessing by her Daddy.  After church, we had everyone over for lunch and to visit for awhile. After everyone left, we played the Wii for awhile before going to bed.

Monday - We let Hayden stay out of school again, so he could have another day to spend all day with Papa Mike and Nana.  We got up and once again spent most of the morning, working out and playing Wii Fit.  Then, we all got ready and decided to go for a drive up to the mountains, so my parents could get some pictures of the snow.  Which at the time there wasn't very much!! They missed the snow by about 2 weeks after they left!!  Anyway- We stopped a few times so my dad could take some pictures of the mountains, and one time Hayden got out with him and they started having a snowball fight.  They had a lot of fun!!!  --After getting some pictures, we came back home and had a late lunch, then Hayden and his Papa Mike played the Wii some more. They are both pretty competitive, so it was fun watching them play against each other.

Tuesday - Hayden went to school, much to his dismay again!!!  My mom went with me to take Katie to her 2 month check-up that morning, while my dad stayed and babysat Kayla.  Then that afternoon, my mom stayed home with Katie, while me, my dad, and Kayla went to Hayden's school for a school assembly. They had the Chinesse Acrobats perform, so we decided to go watch them with Hayden.  Then, we spent the rest of the afternoon just visiting with Papa and Nana.  Hayden had his Nana play (what seemed like) all of his board games and card games with him.

The kids enjoyed spending time with Papa Mike and Nana, and were sad to see them leave on Wedenesday morning.  We were glad that they were able to come out and visit, even if it didn't seem like a long enough visit.  We had fun visiting with them, and Hayden and his Papa Mike had lots of laughs and a lot of fun playing the Wii.  Papa has even commented that he might have to get a Wii (that is after he gets a new fridge).  --Good thing we had the Wii, who knows what would have kept us all entertained for the week.  There just isn't that much to do here during the winter (well, not much to do during the summer either, but at least then we can go camping!!!)  So that's it for our visit with Papa Mike and Nana.  Love you guys and Miss you bunches!!!
