So, yesterday was Hayden's first day of school. He got up without much of a problem, ate breakfast (without wanting to watch cartoons!!) and after I got him dressed, he made his bed (without a complaint) and then he grabbed his backpack and was ready to go. This really surprised me, since on Sunday when I told him that he would start school the next day, he replied with "No, I don't want to go, that means summer will be over and all the apples will fall off of the trees and the worms will get them!!" (Have no idea where that came from!!) So, I was expecting a little bit of a struggle come Monday morning, but he did great. When I picked him up from school, he said that he had a good day and had a lot of fun, he told me what they had for lunch, and how many recesses they got to have, and that they went to P.E. --So, then I asked him, "So are you ready to go back again tomorrow?" and he quickly responded with, "NO." I then asked him "Well, what do you plan on doing?" and he said "Ummm, go fishing!!"
This morning was a little different than yesterday morning, it took him longer to wake up and get moving, and he didn't want to eat breakfast, and he didn't want to go to school because "It's too long." Then, when I took him to school, he couldn't understand the fact that he is suppose to go straight to the playground, then into his classroom after the bell rings. He wanted to go in and hang up his backpack and then go "the easier way to the playground". So, I had to show him that no he could just walk around the sidewalk, then go play, but when we got around to the playground he didn't want me to leave. Luckily, one of the little girls from our primary, Asia McGinnis, came up and started talking to him and started walking with him to the playground, then the P.E. teacher, Mrs. Booth, saw him and said Hi to him and commented about having P.E. yesterday, so then he was fine after that. And I just told him, if you take your backpack off to play on the playground, then you'll have to remember where you put it, and get the right one, but he told me, "No, I'll just keep it on." --I guess it will just take him a few days to get comfortable and adjusted to going everyday, and hopefully he'll decide that he likes to go or who knows what kind of year we might have!!! Can't wait to see what he has to say about going to school today!!
