SWAMPFEST

My hometown of Waycross is the home of the Okefenokee Swamp, so a few years ago Waycross started holding a festival called Swampfest. What the perfect name, right? The festival's events include vendors, arts/crafts, frog jumping competition, entertainment, food competition, karate demonstrations, and much more. We decided to go on Saturday and check out all the excitement. We browsed through some of the vendors, then we watched the Disc-Connected K-9's, also known as Frisbee dogs. The kids loved watching the dogs do some really cool tricks. Then, we went and grabbed something for lunch and waited for the Dilly Bar eating contest to begin. We cheered my nephew, Porter, on for this event. He did a good job and he really enjoyed every bite.

After the contest, we went and browsed through some more vendors, and the kids (well, my brother's kids) went and did the face painting. Then, we went back to sign Porter up for the C0ca-Cola Chug, but they were full with participants. So, we sat and enjoyed some delicious funnel cake, fried Twinkies, and fried Oreos. Talk about cholesterol overkill, but it sure was good!! By this point, Hayden had finally noticed that they had a carnival, and reaaaaaaallllllly wanted to go. I thought great, here goes all my vacation money just so he can ride a few carnival rides!! But luckily and thankfully, Hayden agreed on just one ride. So, I got him and his cousin, Corbin, tickets to ride on the airplanes. Also, thankfully Kayla didn't throw a fit to want to ride too!! We all know how just a few carnival rides turns into more and can drain your pockets in a matter of minutes!!
And that wraps up our adventures at Swampfest. It was a fun day and the weather was beautiful. After we got home, the kids played under the sprinkler and decided to go for a "swim".
They lasted about 5 minutes. Although, it was warm outside, the water was still pretty cold. So, they laid out on their towels in the sun trying to get warm again, then they would go back and jump in again, then go dry out again!!
