(This is a rehabilitation center for those sea turtles that are found stranded on the Atlantic Coast beaches. Before this center opened in 2007, these turtles had to be transported to centers in Florida or South Carolina. This center allows the sick and/or injured turtles to be cared for until they can be returned to the ocean. They had about 8 of these pools that they kept the turtles in. Some of the turtles were there because they had a condition that caused them to only float and not be able to dive and swim, then there was one that had been struck by a boat propeller and it's shell had been damaged badly, so it was all bandaged up.) The kids really enjoyed checking out all of the turtles and finding out what the turtles' names were and why they were in the hospital.

After checking out the Sea Turtle hospital, we decided to walk around the grounds of the Jekyll Island Club Hotel that is located behind the Sea Turtle Center. This is an aerial view of the "hotel" (which includes the "Clubhouse", two smaller hotels, and several cottages too!!) It was beautiful and guess what the going rate is for a room? --Anywhere from $199 for a Clubhouse Single to $439 for the Presidential Suite (that is per night)!!

We enjoyed our little walk down to the waterfront. Hayden enjoyed a piggy back ride from Porter for part of the walk. Then, Nicolette had to work pretty hard to keep Kayla from jumping into the water!! Then after our little walk, we started on our way back to
Brunswick to meet my brother's wife, Rheann after she got off work. But before we left the Island, we decided to make a quick stop by the beach. The kids loved it, and we had hoped to go back while we were there, but we never did make it back to the beach. The one day we had planned to go, it ended up being really overcast and chilly. Better luck next time!!
